On behalf of yourself, your community and/or our country - turn to God in prayer and ask His forgiveness for the many sins we struggle with, including racism and apathy and inaction regarding racial injustice.
Reflect on the countless instances of racial injustice that have plagued our nation from its inception to the murder of Mr. George Floyd and the countless examples in between. From there, please also remember the way you felt and the conversations and commitments that emerged in the summer of 2020. Many of us promised to learn more, say more and do more - but as we navigated COVID-19 and time progressed, racial conciliation fell by the wayside. We must Remember.
With family, with colleagues and in your local church, pick up this conversation on racial conciliation again. Consider how God may be calling you to show His love for your neighbor through intentional work on racial conciliation, healing and justice.
It is important to note that social justice IS NOT the Gospel. Racial conciliation, as important as it is, is Also Not The Gospel.
Jesus is the Way, Truth and Life. He lived a sinless life, died a painful death and rose again three days later. Jesus is the Son of the True and Living God and One with God the Father. Through His sacrifice for the sins of all people, provides the opportunity to be forgiven for our sins and made right with God through faith in Him.
Jesus taught that by loving God with all our ability and loving our neighbor as ourselves, His followers could understand the fulfillment of all the Biblical laws and prophetic teachings.
This National Day of Repentance, Remembrance and Re-Engagement is designed to invite the church in America to show its love for neighbors who've experienced the worst of racial injustice and pain - not in place of the Gospel, but in a way that helps spread the Gospel. Please join us!
